Type of business: Surplus merchant on the big scale: clothes, tools, general hardware, some
vehicles, test gear and radio stuff.
Comments: Anchor seems to be highly regarded, but I have been disappointed on each of my 3
visits. I have found a very limited range of (mainly Larkspur) accessories, and the few sets were
in very poor condition, which was not reflected in the prices (all high; e.g. £30 for very battered
and incomplete A41). As a result, I would no longer make a special trip to Anchor!
They have another outlet at Ripley, which some say is better.

Type of business: Small electronics retailer, mostly old, second-hand items.
Comments: Real junk shop with ancient "finds" to be discovered in dark corners
(I bought the door stop alias an ATU No.6 !). Has some rare manuals
(e.g. ZC1, 53 set, R216 EMER, BC348) and will provide photocopies
at low prices (can provide a list for anyone interested).
I note he is also the official dealer for Eddystone Rx spares.

A very special place. They had tons'o'stuff including Collins
mechanical filters. Last time someone checked, they went
wholesale only but if you grovel, maybe they'll let you in?
