In Other News..

A reminder that on Saturday and Tuesday evenings, Radio Habana Cuba's Arnie Coro, CO2KK has his great "DXers Unlimited" radio program.

Try 9820 khz AM, 13605 khz SSB, 6000 khz AM. 0130z 0330z 0530z (all times in Zulu are actually the following day, with the local time Sat. and Tues.)

The program is devoted to the radio hobby. 9820 khz is the best for S. United States, but you will likely also be able to copy the others.

And, here is some DX SHOW information from Arnie Coro at Radio Havana
in Cuba:

Ham Radio Program:

TUESDAY UTC DAY
AT 2130 UTC ON 9620 KHZ AND 9585 KHZ ( SSB )
AT 2230 UTC ON 6180 KHZ
WEDNESDAY UTC DAY
AT 0130 UTC ON 6000 KHZ, 9820 KHZ AND 9830 KHZ SSB
AT 0330 UTC ON SAME FREQUENCIES AS 0130 UTC
AT 0530 UTC ON 9820 KHZ AND 9830 KHZ

9830 KHZ IS SSB 30 KW, OTHERS ARE AM
6000 KHZ IS EAST COAST OF NORTH AMERICA BEAM 250 KW
9820 KHZ IS CENTRAL USA AND CANADA FROM 01 T0 O5 UTC AND
USES WEST COAST BEAM FROM 05 TO 07 UTC

SATURDAYS UTC DAYS
2130 UTC AND 2230 UTC SAME FREQUENCIES AS ON TUESDAY UTC DAY

SUNDAY UTC DAY

0230 UTC ON 6000 KHZ, 9820 KHZ AND 9830 KHZ SSB
0430 UTC ON SAME FREQUENCIES AS AT 0230 UTC
0530 UTC ON 9820 KHZ AND 9830 KHZ (ssb)

THE 9830 KhZ FREQUENCY IS AN EXPERIMENTAL SERVICE WITH
12.5 % CARRIER INSERTION ( PILOT CARRIER ) TO HELP
EXPERIENCED LISTENERS WITH GOOD RECEIVERS TO ACHIEVE
EXACT FREQUENCY LOCK TO THE PILOT CARRIER.
I AM STILL ASKING MYSELF IF I SHOULD INCREASE THE
CARRIER INSERTION TO 25 %, SO THAT IT WOULD BE
EASIER TO ZERO BEAT ON RECEIVERS WHICH ARE NOT SO
WELL DESIGNED OR TO USE THE AM SYNC MODE OF SOME
RECEIVERS LIKE THE SONY 2010 AND THE SATELLIT 700
FROM GRUNDIG.

THE ACTUAL ON THE AIR TIME FO THE SHOW IS ALWAYS A
LITTLE AFTER THE 30 MINUTES PAST THE HOUR, BUT I ALWAYS
ADVISE TO START LISTENING AT 30 PAST THE HOUR TO
CATCH THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW, WHICH MAY START
AS EARLY AS FOR EXAMPLE 0232 OR 0233 UTC ON
SUNDAY UTC DAY ( THIS IS A TYPICAL EXAMPLE )

MY PACKET RADIO ADDRESS IS

CO2KK@CO2BQQ.#HAV.CUB.NA

AND IT WORKS VERY WELL, AS MY SYSOP CO2JA IS AN
EXCELLENT BBS ADMINISTRATOR !!
I NEED TO GET A HOLD OF AN ARTICLE POSSIBLY PUBLISED
IN QST FOR SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER OR NOVEMMBER OR IN
TWO OF THOSE MAGAZINES, THAT HAS A REVIEW OF CURRENT
PROPAGATION FORECASTING PROGRAMS. COULD YOU FIND
THEM FOR ME !
IF YOU DO FIND THEM, PLEASE MAKE A PHOTOCOPY AND
MAIL THE PHOTOCOPY TO VE1KG IN NOVA SCOTIA,
HE IS OK IN THE CALLBOOK OR CD ROM, ANDHE FORWARDS
THE MAIL AND OTHER THINGS TO ME AS SOON AS HE
RECEIVES ANYTHING FOR ME. AS YOU KNOW , THERE ARE
WEEKLY FLIGHTS FROM CANADA FROM TORONTO AND MONTREAL
TO HAVANA, SO THIS WORKS !

BEST REGARDS TO YOU MY FRIEND
ARNIE CO2KK
